Former Full Professor of Molecular Biology, Simone’s latest research interests have been focused on various aspects of applied immunology, particularly on the development of a novel immune-epitope presentation platform and its application to the design of recombinant peptide vaccines directed against HPV and other targets. An HPV vaccine based on such technology is currently undergoing a phase I clinical trial. Author of several publications on these subjects, he is also (co)inventor on various patents.
